Failure Classification and Optimization of Mobile Networks

Abstract:

Radio network optimization involves monitoring, verifying and improving the performance of mobile networks. Optimization and troubleshooting information is typically used to aid in finding specific problems during rollout phases of newly deployed networks or to observe specific problems reported by customers during the operational phase. Apart from this, the network is always growing which necessitate the optimization to be an on-going process in order to increase the efficiency of the network. Measurements collected during drive testing are analyzed to find out the cause of failures in the network or non-achievement of required performance. Failure classification is the most important part of every network benchmarking which provides valuable information to mobile operators. Finally optimization activities are performed to improve and tune the network to achieve desired targets.
