Thema:

Rate region of the interference channel with a relay.

Abstract:

Two-user interferenc channel (IC) is wireless network with 2 source-destination pairs, simultaneously transmitting to their corresponding destinations. The main issue here is how to cope with the interference produced by the other user in this simultaneous transmission.

The capacity region of the IC is still unknown in general. The only scenario, when we know its capacity, is in the case of strong interference. In this case, IC behaves as two multiple access channels (MAC), one to each receiver.

In this talk, rate region of interference channel with a relay (ICR), considering the strong interference regime, will be analyzed. Relay here employs a decode and forward relaying protocol and is working on a half duplex constraint. Rate region of ICR in 3 different scenarios will be presented. i.e;
1) when relay is only helping one user.
2) when relay also helps the other user by only forwarding one user's interference to other user.
3) when relay equally helps both the users.
