A Comparative Study of Key Management Cryptography in Wireless Sensor Networks for Patient Monitoring Security

Abstract:

The modern medical treatment in hospital, medical center, emergency situation or in any disaster relief events need to collect as much as necessary patient information. All vital signs must be monitored and sent to the Medical Emergency Response Team (MERT), Critical Care Units (CCU) or Nurse Station continuously via wireless communications and forward to the Hospital Information System (HIS) for just in time medical treatment from the medics. There are widely used of the wireless sensor network in the Patient Monitoring system for communications with the medical sensors. The security requirements become vital important due to the vulnerability of various attacks to keep the patient information with data availability, data freshness, data integrity and highest privacy which could be accessed by the responsible medical staff only. In this paper, we have made a comparative study of key management cryptography in wireless sensor network and select an appropriate security scheme for our patient monitoring system.
