Power allocation game for uplink OFDM systems with complete and partial channel state information.


The uplink of a single cell network with K users simultaneously communicating with a base station using OFDM modulation over N carriers is considered. In such a scenario, users can decide their power allocation based on possible Channel State Information (CSI) levels (complete, statistical or partial).

The optimal solutions for maximizing the average capacity in the complete knowledge case is shown to be the water-filling game. In the case of partial knowledge the problem is formulated as a strategy game where each user selfishly maximizes his own average capacity.
