Autonomous power control in multi-tier networks


In LTE heterogeneous network, femtocells, known as Home evolved Node B (HeNB), are used to improve the indoor coverage and provide high data rate services to the users in a cost-effective manner and at the same time, enhancing network capacity. This thesis proposes a downlink power con- trol scheme based on channel quality indicator (CQI) for LTE femtocells. The femtocell (HeNB) adjusts its downlink transmission power in order to serve the home user (HUE) with appropriate throughput associated to the targeted CQI, which chosen based on the required data rate of users, while keeping transmission reliable enough. Simulations results confirm, that com- paring to the conventional schemes, better throughput, coverage and power saving can be achieved simultaneously by the proposed algorithm.
