Simulative Evaluation of Multi-Tier Network

In wireless cellular networks, indoor users usually have low signallevels due to the shade of building walls. In recent years, low power access points, known as femtocells, are deployed to improve indoor signal coverage. The femtocells can be used by anyone who is in the covered range (open access), or only the licensed users (closed subscriber group). On one hand, the indoor coverage could be improved, on the other hand, new access points also means new sources of interference.

In this project, a simulation program with coexisting macrocells and femtocells should be developed. Capacity and coverage for different femtocell deployment strategy should be evaluated.

Programming language can be chosen from Java, C++ and Matlab.
