Abstract

The emerging demand of mobile data connectivity set the need for high-quality radio channel models. Until now, stochastic models, such as the WINNER channel model, are used for signal processing purposes. In network optimization, radio wave propagation methods like CORLA and PIROPA are used to predict channel quality at specific locations. The recently proposed class of semi-stochastic channel models merges the aforementioned approaches in order to enable location-specific channel realizations. This talk discusses the properties of semi-stochastic channel models and presents both theoretical and practical findings on this new class of channel models.
